Technology

The last decade has witnessed spectacular advances in the development of new technological platforms in the field of proteomics. Proteomika is committed to horizon scanning for new technological developments and employs a team of senior scientists focused on the identification and evaluation of new technologies that will both enable the introduction of new diagnostic assays while continually working to improve our current portfolio of products and services. A key area of activity in Proteomika is the discovery of novel disease biomarkers through the application of proteomics tools and the development of assays based on these markers for disease diagnosis and prognosis.

This process exploits different technologies at each stage in the product development cycle; from the initial identification of candidate markers to their validation and the subsequent development of diagnostic tests. Proteomika has accumulated extensive experience in the identification of biomarkers through differential proteomic analyses, using tools such as two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) and an innovative new technology known as NAPPA for the production of protein microarrays.

Proteomika uses a variety of technologies during the validation stages of its biomarker-based diagnostic tests and in the technology platforms used for ourdiagnostic immunoassay products. For example, suspension-based bead microarrays are used for the detection of biomarkers associated with bladder cancer, planar antibody microarrays for microbiological typing (PneumoArray®) and an ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) based format is used for both Promonitor® and Proimplant.
