Protocol for Using Peracetic Acid 35%

1. Safety Precautions

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) : gloves, goggles, lab coat, and face shield.
• Ensure proper ventilation to prevent inhalation of fumes.
• Store away from heat sources, flammable materials, and direct sunlight.
• Use non-metallic containers for dilution, as peracetic acid is highly reactive with some metals.

2. Dilution Preparation (If Required)

Depending on the application, Peracetic Acid 35% must be diluted accordingly:

Dilution Procedure :

1. Measure the required volume of clean, cold water in a non-metallic container.
2. Slowly add Peracetic Acid 35% to the water while stirring gently.
3. Do not mix with other chemicals unless specifically recommended.

3. Application Method

• Surface Disinfection : Apply the diluted solution using a spray, wipe, or immersion method. Allow 10-15 minutes of contact time before rinsing with clean water.
• Medical Equipment Sterilization : Soak instruments in the solution for 15-30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with sterile water.
• Water Treatment : Add the diluted solution directly into water systems at the recommended dosage and allow sufficient mixing time.
• Food & Beverage Industry : Use for CIP (clean-in-place) systems, rinsing pipelines, and sterilizing surfaces. Ensure thorough rinsing after application.

4. Disposal Guidelines

• Neutralize any remaining Peracetic Acid with sodium bicarbonate before disposal.
• Follow local environmental regulations for proper disposal of chemical waste.
• Do not dispose of in drains without proper dilution and neutralization.
